It’s World Doula Week (March 22nd–28th), and I can’t let it pass without celebrating the work I do as a doula and the families I serve!
If you know me, you know birth work is my calling. I’ve dedicated my career to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—not just as a birth doula, postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and lactation specialist, but as someone who truly believes that no one should have to navigate this journey alone.
But before all of that, I’m a mom of three. I know firsthand what it’s like to be pregnant, to go through birth, to hold that tiny baby and wonder, Am I doing this right? That’s why this work is so personal to me. I’ve been there. And I want every parent I work with to feel empowered, informed, and supported—just like I wish I had in my own journey.
And the best part? M.A.M.A. Birth Services is growing! What started as just me is now a team of passionate birth workers who share my mission: to empower, educate, and support families every step of the way.

What Exactly is World Doula Week?
World Doula Week kicks off every year on March 22nd, aligning with the spring equinox—a time of renewal, birth, and transformation (fitting, right?). It’s a week dedicated to recognizing doulas and the impact we have on birth experiences, maternal health, and postpartum recovery.
Doulas have always been a part of birth. In many cultures, birth was never something a person did alone. But today, too many parents feel unsupported, unheard, and unsure of their choices. That’s where we come in.
At M.A.M.A., we provide:
✨ Education to prepare for birth—whether it’s a home birth, hospital birth, or birth center birth
✨ Birth planning support—so families feel in control and confident in their choices
✨ Emotional and physical support—before, during, and after birth
✨ Advocacy and empowerment—so parents feel heard and respected in medical settings
✨ Postpartum care and healing support—because the fourth trimester is real!
✨ Guidance on feeding and newborn care—breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and everything in between
✨ A sense of community—so families never feel alone in their journey
But beyond the services, what we really do is hold space. We help parents trust their instincts, feel confident in their decisions, and step into parenthood feeling supported, informed, and powerful.
Why Doulas Matter (From a Mama Who Knows)
I could talk all day about why doulas are essential, but let’s hear from one of my clients:
“As a first-time mother, I initially embarked on this journey nervous. It was crucial to seek out the support of a doula. I was referred to Dominique by a friend, and I’m so glad I had her with me throughout this journey. She handled my husband and me with care. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and resourceful. I could always go to her to answer my questions or ease my anxiety before and after doctor visits and during my labor. Given that pregnancy is unpredictable and she had other clients, I never felt alone. We worked together to collaborate on my birth plan, and she ensured my wishes were carried out and helped me advocate for myself during labor. Dominique is surely like family now. It was imperative as an African American woman to seek a doula, and I do not regret having done that. If you are thinking about doula services, please don’t hesitate in getting the support you need—Dominique is the right woman for the job.”
This is what you can expect when you hire me or anyone on my team. We treat every family with care, knowledge, and respect. You will always feel supported, heard, and confident in your choices—whether that’s through preparing for birth, navigating the postpartum period, or adjusting to life with a newborn.
M.A.M.A. is Growing—And I Couldn’t Be More Excited
This year, I was honored to be selected for the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women Black in Business Program, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much it’s fueling my vision for M.A.M.A. Birth Services.
When I started this journey, my goal was simple: to make sure families felt safe, informed, and supported in birth. But now, with a growing team by my side, I see M.A.M.A. expanding in ways I never imagined.
We’re building something bigger than just a business—we’re creating a movement. One where more families, especially Black and Brown families, have access to the care, advocacy, and education they deserve. Where birth isn’t something to be feared, but something to feel empowered and prepared for.
And we’re just getting started.
